Investment Analyst – Small Cap Quality Value (1-4 years of buyside experience)
Application #: 00103
Full-time investment analyst on a growing ~$1b in AUM small cap quality-value strategy at a leading small cap asset manager. Sector coverage has the potential to be flexible over time, but will pick up the Financials sector initially.
Essential skills:
- Strong collaboration and communication skills. This is a small team dedicated specifically to this strategy, which leads to a team culture of vigorous discussion and debate to unearth both upside and downside risks in every investment opportunity. Furthermore, the team embraces a robust, bottom-up research approach that involves considerable amounts of writing to disseminate knowledge across the team, which ultimately enables team discussion.
- A passion for deep, fundamental research. The team strongly embraces an intensive process with the goal of unearthing differentiated viewpoints within the small cap universe. A successful candidate would demonstrate both the excitement and skill sets that would power a strong research process.
- An ability to focus both on value and business quality in company analysis. The team believes that downside protection is equally important as upside potential. As such, an ideal candidate would demonstrate analytical skills across financial statements, valuation, competitive dynamics, supply/demand drivers, business model attributes, unit economics, etc.
- Continuous improvement mindset. While the team has a consistent and robust investment process, they are also keenly aware of the need to focus on continuous improvement to maintain an edge in the markets. The ideal candidate would not only be focused on security selection but also be an avid contributor to the evolution of the team and strategy franchise.
